Consistent Pace Secures Division Victory In the 2025 Mesa Marathon, Donna McKendree, 78, from Clinton, AZ, delivered an outstanding performance across the half marathon distance, finishing with a total elapsed time of 3:13:11 and an average pace of 14:44 min/mile. Competing under the 50 States Half Marathon Club banner, she clinched the first place in her age division, F75-79. Donna maintained a strong pace throughout the race, noticeable from her splits. Her first mile time of 14:45 set the pace, which she improved in the second mile to 13:44. As the race progressed, she demonstrated commendable consistency, especially in miles 5 through 8, each completed in under 15 minutes. Her performance in these segments was instrumental in securing her top division placement. Towards the end, although her split times slightly increased, she preserved her division lead. Future focus on maintaining pace in the later miles could further enhance her already commendable performance.
