Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Eric Anspach #15007 Race: 2025 Mesa Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Consistent Pacing Yields Improved Performance Eric Anspach, 52, from Phoenix, finished the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon with a time of 1:34:18, achieving an average pace of 7:11 min/mile. This performance marks an improvement from the previous year, where he completed the race in 1:34:58 with a pace of 7:14 min/mile. Over the course of 13.1 miles, Eric consistently maintained his pace, particularly excelling in mile three with the fastest split time of 6:52. Eric ranked 13th in the M50-54 division out of a strong field of participants. Notably, he consistently finished each mile near his average pace, with very little fluctuation. A slight drop in pace was observed during mile seven, where the split time increased to 7:41. Focusing on maintaining even pacing throughout will help in pushing overall performance even further. Joining PHX Run Club seems to be beneficial for him, as he climbed in division rank and reduced total race time compared to last year’s performance.
