Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Marilyn Kirchgesner #17018 Race: 2025 Mesa Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Consistent Mid-Race Pacing and a Steady Finish Marilyn Kirchgesner, 65, representing the 50 States Half Marathon Club, executed a steady performance at the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half. She completed the 13.1-mile course in 2:14:22, maintaining an average pace of 10:15 minutes per mile. Early on, her pace was consistent, particularly between miles 2 and 3, where she improved her pace to 9:33 min/mile and 9:21 min/mile, respectively. A highlight in her pacing strategy was evident between miles 3 to 5, with each mile logged in under 10:00 min/mile. However, after mile 6, there was a noticeable drop in pace. Marilyn may want to focus on maintaining momentum in the latter stages of future races. Despite this, she finished strong, improving her split time in the final mile to match her overall pace. Marilyn placed 11th in her F65-69 division, out of 12 who finished. Great work from a determined competitor!
