Consistent Performance with Notable Improvements Shawn Nelson demonstrated a remarkable blend of consistency and speed during the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon, finishing with a total time of 2:01:00 and an average pace of 9:14 min/mile. Shawn's performance throughout the race showcased strong pacing, with a notable third split of 8:26 min/mile, marking the fastest segment. Despite fluctuations in her placement, she maintained a stable pace, with eight of the splits between 9:00 and 9:42 min/mile. Comparing to her previous performances, Shawn has shown marked improvement from earlier races. In the 2012 edition, she recorded a time of 2:19:11 with a pace of 10:37 min/mile. The current race reflects a significant enhancement in her pace, dropping to 9:14 min/mile. There may be an opportunity to enhance performance by focusing on maintaining the pace achieved during the faster splits, particularly aiming to replicate the speed seen in the impressive third split.
