Consistent Pacing with Late Surge in Speed Samuel Crandell maintained an impressive overall pace of 9:29 min/mile at the 2025 Mesa Marathon, completing the half marathon in 2:04:21. He demonstrated a pattern of accelerating in the latter stages. The early splits were steady, marked by a controlled 10:23 min/mile at mile one, improving to 9:36 min/mile by mile three. A notable deceleration occurred at mile four, with an 11:40 min/mile pace, before rebounding to sub-10 min/mile pace for the remainder of the race. His split pace peaked at 8:27 min/mile during mile thirteen. Consistently moving forward, Samuel gained position throughout the course. He started at 1352nd overall, improving to 1594th by the finish. In his division (M40-44), he finished 96th out of the field. Compared to his past performances, this was a consistent effort, showcasing strong pacing skills. Continued focus on maintaining mid-race momentum could enhance his future performances.
