Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Austin Landrey #17127 Race: 2025 Mesa Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Steady Start, Challenging Finish Austin Landrey from Mesa, AZ, ran the 2025 Mesa Marathon half marathon with a total elapsed time of 2:16:36, maintaining an overall pace of 10:25 min/mile. Notably, his early splits were his fastest, with the initial mile clocking at 9:34 min/mile and gradual improvements in pace during the second and third miles, reaching a brisk 8:51 min/mile. However, as the race progressed, the pace steadily decreased, with the final miles averaging over 11:00 min/mile. When compared to past performances, Austin's finish time was slightly longer than his 2:15:37 finish in the 2023 Mesa Marathon. Consistency in early mile pacing shows promise but maintaining that pace over the entire distance could further enhance performance. Even with these challenges, being part of the Mesa OGs team provides a great environment for growth. Perhaps focusing on a consistent pace in the latter half could yield even more improvement in future races.
