Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Greg Budge #15612 Race: 2025 Mesa Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Steady Effort with Fluctuating Paces Greg Budge from Gilbert, AZ, completed the 2025 Mesa Marathon half marathon with a final time of 2:14:24, averaging a pace of 10:15 min/mile. Impressively, Greg maintained a consistent early performance with mile splits ranging from 9:01 to 9:12 min/mile between miles two (18:24) and six (54:30). Notably, his fastest mile split occurred between miles five and six, at 8:39 min/mile. This indicated strategic pacing during the middle segments. In the later stages, there was a visible slowdown. The eleventh mile proved challenging, with a 15:42 split time. Ending strong is something to aim for in future races. Placing 112th in his division out of 1991 overall participants suggests a solid competitive standing. As a member of the team "Run Run Run And Run Some More," there's potential for refining pacing strategies to enhance finishes and embrace final miles with consistency.
