Consistent Effort with Strong Start Mary Eckel demonstrated determination and consistency during the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon. At age 63, her earliest split performance was a solid 21:05 min/mile pace for the first mile, ranking 50th in her division. Her pace was slightly faster in the second mile with a strong 20:08 min/mile. Despite an overall elapsed time of 5:09:48 with an average pace of 23:38 min/mile, she displayed resilience by lingering closely around the early 20-minute mark until mile three. Throughout the race, she maintained an admirable effort, culminating in a final push, recovering division places towards the end. Her consistent presence in the 60-64 age division reflects solid competition within her group, finishing as the 82nd in her division. The drop in position past the fourth mile indicates opportunities to develop endurance for sustained later performance. Encourage strategic pacing and consider more endurance training to help sustain her early pacing achievements.
