Consistent Pacing with Opportunities to Refine in the Final Stretch Jeff Delaney, running for the Boston Buddies at the 2025 Mesa Marathon, maintained a commendable pace throughout, averaging 8:14 min/mile over the full 26.2 miles. His performance placed him 27th in the M55-59 division—a noteworthy improvement from his early splits—demonstrating strong competition amongst peers. Jeff started strong, clocking an initial mile at 7:45, sustaining close to this pace through the first half of the race. Notably, split 4 showed an impressive 7:36 min/mile, which was his fastest. Despite a consistent first half, Jeff's pace slowed slightly in the later miles, with splits over 9:00 min/mile from mile 21 onward. Given his previous marathon time of 3:29:06 with a 7:58 min/mile pace at the 2023 Mesa Marathon, focusing on endurance and pacing strategies in the latter part of the race could significantly enhance performance consistency in future marathons.
