Consistent Performance with a Steady Finish John Thompson, 63, representing the 50 States Half Marathon Club, completed the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon with an impressive demonstration of consistency. Throughout the 13.1 miles, he maintained an average pace of 11:08 min/mile, culminating in a finish time of 2:26:03. John consistently held his division placement, varying between 33rd and 48th, ultimately placing 48th in the Male 60-64 category. His performance was particularly noteworthy during the first three miles, where his pace quickly improved to 9:45 min/mile. Despite the latter miles showing slight increases in split times, such as mile 10's 12:24 pace, John maintained a strong position overall, outpacing nearly 1,500 other participants with his determination. His position improved significantly in mile 8, reaching 33rd place in his division, highlighting his ability to strategically manage his race pace. Focusing on consistent pacing in the later stages could yield even better results next time.
