Consistent Performance with Steady Pacing Jay MacKinlay completed the 2025 Mesa Marathon half marathon with a total time of 1:59:29, maintaining a consistent average pace of 9:07 min/mile over 13.1 miles. Jay started with a 9:57 min/mile pace for the first mile, then improved to an 8:46 min/mile pace by the third mile. The strongest mile was the last, run at 8:39 min/mile, showing his ability to finish strong. Throughout the race, Jay demonstrated steadiness, with split paces ranging between 8:39 and 9:33 min/mile. In comparison to previous performances, Jay showed a minor decrease in overall pace compared to the 2023 and 2024 Mesa Marathon half marathons, where he achieved an 8:59 min/mile pace. Despite slight changes in placement and pace, Jay maintained a strong presence, wrapping up the race 63rd in the M50-54 division. Continued focus on maintaining a faster early pace like his initial split could potentially boost future race outcomes.
