Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Louis Clegg #10866 Race: 2025 Mesa Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Steady Start, Challenging Finish Louis maintained a steady pace in the early miles of the race, consistently running around the 9-minute mile mark. Notably, he logged his fastest split between miles 4 and 5 with an 8:30 pace. Over the first 12 miles, Louis generally stayed within the top 1400 in his gender category. His pacing during the first half was a strong foundation, showing consistent performance with minor fluctuations. In the latter half, he experienced a gradual slowdown, with split times ranging from 9:47 to 14:02 in miles 13 through 23. The final miles saw Louis finish with average paces over 10 minutes per mile and a final elapsed time of 4:39:25. Compared to previous performances, this marathon presented more challenges. One suggestion would be to analyze pacing strategy late in the race to alleviate the impact of fatigue and maintain consistency. Keep leveraging the strengths of the earlier segments.
