Consistent Performance with Controlled Splits Matt Tupper delivered a solid performance at the 2025 Mesa Marathon. Showing consistency in pacing, Matt maintained an average pace of 7:38 min/mile throughout the 26.2-mile course, completing it in 3:20:07. Notably, his best split came during mile 19 with a swift 7:07 min/mile pace, improving significantly from the previous mile. Racing in the E55-59 division, he secured the 14th spot, with overall placement at 522nd out of 3,624 participants. Although there was a slight slowdown between miles 5 and 6, Matt regained momentum, executing strategic pacing adjustments. His splits indicate strong mid-run accelerations, such as at mile 4 and mile 17, with impressive 7:12 and 7:19 min/mile paces, respectively. In comparison to his previous year's race, Matt demonstrated marked improvement by shaving off over 7 minutes from his marathon time. The consistent pacing and improved finishing position highlight his effective race strategy and training.
