Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Frances Laster #17154 Race: 2025 Mesa Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Consistent Pace with Opportunities for Growth Frances maintained a steady performance during the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon. Beginning with a solid pace of 10:47 min/mile in the first mile, she slightly improved her pace over the next two miles, hitting her fastest mile at 10:35 min/mile. As the race progressed, her pace incrementally slowed, concluding with an average pace of 11:42 min/mile overall. Notably, Frances showed resilience by maintaining a pace slightly above the 11-minute mark until the seventh mile. In her age division (F60-64), Frances held onto a mid-range position, finishing 40th out of 41 participants. Her gender division placement was 1333rd. While consistent, there’s potential for improvement in the later miles to maintain faster paces similar to her initial splits. Observing her performance within Team Black Girls RUN! can serve as an excellent feedback tool to strategize future races and explore ways to maintain pace.
