Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Evan Hansen #11708 Race: 2025 Mesa Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.
Consistent Effort with Late-Course Stamina Challenges Evan Hansen maintained a commendable pace throughout much of the 2025 Mesa Marathon. Starting strong, his initial mile time was 6:06, with consistent splits through the first four miles, ranging from 6:06 to 6:12 min/mile. Between miles 5 to 10, his pace slowed slightly, averaging around 6:25 to 6:28 min/mile, still maintaining a respectable position in his division with median ranks ranging between 17th and 24th. During the latter part of the marathon, from mile 13 onwards, his pace showed further deceleration, often touching the 7-minute mark per mile, peaking at a 7:24-minute split in mile 23. Despite this, he managed to finish the marathon with an overall time of 2:56:32 and a cadence of 6:44 min/mile for the entire course. Constructively, focusing on long-distance stamina could fortify performance consistency in future marathons.
