Steady Improvement in Half Marathon Performance Lorena Cabanillas delivered a commendable performance at the 2025 Mesa Marathon, finishing with a time of 2:05:42 over the 13.1-mile half marathon course. Her overall pace was 9:35 min/mile, indicating a solid improvement from her previous year's finish of 2:08:40. Notably, Lorena showed consistent pacing in the middle sections of the race, with Mile 6 clocking in at a swift 9:08 min/mile. A marginal slowdown was observed from Mile 8 onward, with the pace fluctuating between 9:50 and 10:10 min/mile. This suggests potential for pacing strategy adjustments in the later stages of the race. Nonetheless, her overall progress from last year’s pace of 9:49 min/mile is promising. As part of Norteam Runners, she placed 134th in her division. Focusing on pacing consistency, especially in the later miles, could lead to further improvement in future races.
