Consistent Performance with Strong Start in Each Split Sandy Morrell demonstrated impressive pacing throughout the 2025 Mesa Marathon half marathon. Her final time was 1:56:40, with an average pace of 8:54 minutes per mile. This placed her 35th in the F50-54 division out of a competitive field of 3859 participants. Notably, Sandy had a robust start with her first mile at 8:57 and improved in the subsequent split to an impressive 8:29 pace by mile two. This early strategy helped her establish a solid foundation for the rest of the race. In the latter half of the race, Sandy's pace slightly slowed but remained consistent overall. Her slowest split was at mile ten with a pace of 9:58. It's worth examining techniques to maintain the early momentum throughout all miles. On her team, the 50 States Half Marathon Club, Sandy can draw on collective experience for strategies in pacing consistency. Celebrating her achievement in sustaining sub-9-minute miles for a majority of the race is commendable.
