Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Daniel Link #17250 Race: 2025 Mesa Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Consistent Start, Challenging Finish Daniel from Tempe, AZ, delivered a noteworthy performance at the 2025 Mesa Marathon half marathon event. Demonstrating a strong start, his first three miles were completed with increasing speed, beginning with a 9:32 min/mile pace and improving to an impressive 8:12 min/mile in the third mile. Daniel's strategic pacing in the early stages of the race positioned him well amidst the competition, providing a solid foundation. However, as the terrain progressed, Daniel's pacing began to gradually decelerate, reaching a 11:25 min/mile pace by mile eight. The latter half of the race presented its challenges, particularly after mile six, where he maintained a pace of above 10 minutes per mile, eventually finishing with an overall pace of 10:10 min/mile. Despite the slowdown, maintaining consistency and stamina over a 13.1-mile distance is commendable. For future races, focusing on endurance and pacing in the later miles may yield overall time improvements.
