Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Ashley Garcia #11449 Race: 2025 Mesa Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Consistent Effort with Strategic Splits Ashley maintained a pace of 8:15-8:32 minutes per mile for a significant portion of the first half of the marathon, indicating a strong start. Notably, she achieved her fastest split of 7:03 min/mile between the 5th and 6th miles. This was followed by a mix of both slowing and speeding up, with an increase in pace around the 12th mile at 8:09 min/mile. Overall, Ashley completed the marathon with an average pace of 9:37 min/mile, finishing in 4:11:57. There was a noticeable decrease in pace after the 21st mile, culminating in split times above 13 minutes per mile towards the end. Consider focusing on endurance training to sustain speed during the latter stages. Placing 570th among females and 93rd in the F25-29 division demonstrates a commendable performance, particularly in a field of 3,624 participants. Maintaining focus on pace consistency will be key to future performance improvements.
