Steady Progression in Performance Phillip Houk, representing the East Valley Runners, showed steady pacing throughout the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon. He completed the 13.1-mile race with an overall time of 1:46:20, clocking an average pace of 8:07 min/mile. Notably, his pacing was consistent, particularly evident from miles 4 to 12 where his pace remained within the 7:58–8:07 min/mile range. His split times highlight his ability to maintain a steady pace, with the fastest split recorded at mile 3 with a time of 7:26 min/mile. Phillip placed 17th in his age division, M55-59, within a field of 3,859 participants. Compared to his previous half marathons in 2022 and 2023 at the Mesa Marathon, Phillip has consistently improved his pace, from 8:55 min/mile in 2023 to 8:18 min/mile in 2022, culminating in this race with his best half marathon pace yet. Working on maintaining this consistent pace improvement could yield even better results in future races.
