Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Brendan Wengler #14420 Race: 2025 Mesa Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Steady Start, Challenging Finish: Analyzing the Mesa Marathon Performance Brendan began the 2025 Mesa Marathon with a stable pace, maintaining an average pace under 8:30 min/mile through the first third of the race. Notably, his fastest segment was the sixth mile, clocking in at 7:01 min/mile. Despite slight fluctuations in place, Brendan consistently placed within the top third of his age division (M19-24) during these early miles. In the latter stages, there was an increase in split times, peaking at 15:15 min/mile at mile 22. This period saw a decline in place standings, finishing 144th in his division. Overall, Brendan's average pace was 9:44 min/mile, resulting in a final time of 4:15:13. To improve future performances, focusing on pacing strategy and building endurance for those final miles could be beneficial. Keeping the consistency shown in the early miles will be key in upcoming races.
