Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Joanie Foley #16255 Race: 2025 Mesa Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Steady Progress with Strong Finish Joanie Foley, 23, from Seattle, WA, demonstrated consistent pacing throughout the 2025 Mesa Marathon. Within the first mile, Joanie started with a 9:59 min/mile pace, which became progressively quicker, hitting 8:33 min/mile by the second mile. Throughout the race, her pace remained fairly steady, generally hovering around 9:00 min/mile. Interestingly, she finished strong with her fastest pace at 8:23 min/mile in the final mile. Joanie completed the half marathon event in 1:58:15 with an overall pace of 9:01 min/mile. She managed to maintain her position quite effectively among her peers, placing 41st in her division (F19-24) out of 3859 total participants. Her participation with "Free Bananas" reflects a positive team spirit. Including faster paces in the later miles can be beneficial to her progression. Analyzing these splits, there is potential to further accelerate from mile seven onward. Keep up the dedication and fine-tune sustained speed efforts.
