Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Donald Savaiano #13642 Race: 2025 Mesa Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Steady Performance with Late Pace Drop Donald maintained a consistent pace throughout much of the 2025 Mesa Marathon, managing an overall pace of 11:06 min/mile. His strongest mile appeared late, at mile 19, with a split pace of 9:31 min/mile, highlighting a strategic surge. Notably, the first half saw relatively consistent splits, with performance starting at 10:46 min/mile, illustrating an initial level of control and consistency. A clear area for improvement can be seen in the latter miles, with a noticeable increase in split times from mile 21 onwards. The split pace slowed to 14:19 min/mile at mile 21 followed by a few miles with paces of 13:52 and 12:35, indicating endurance could be further developed in extended distances compared to his previous half marathon performance, where he held a 10:15 min/mile pace over a similar event distance. Continuing to work on endurance might prove beneficial for future races.
