Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Jody Hatcher #16605 Race: 2025 Mesa Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Consistent Pace with a Strong Finish in Half Marathon Jody Hatcher, from Mount Pleasant, SC, demonstrated a steady performance at the 2025 Mesa Marathon, completing the half marathon with an overall time of 2:21:05 and an average pace of 10:46 min/mile. Despite fluctuating slightly through some splits, Jody maintained a consistent pace throughout most of the race. Notably, Jody's fastest split occurred in the final mile with a pace of 10:12 min/mile, showing strong endurance and finishing power. While Jody placed 42nd in his division (M60-64), a closer examination of his pacing reveals opportunities for minor improvements in certain sections of the race. The tightening of splits after the initial mile shows potential for optimizing early pacing strategies. Regardless, Jody’s performance, especially in maintaining his pacing rhythm, demonstrates perseverance and serves as a reliable foundation to build upon for future races with the 50 States Half Marathon Club.
