Consistent Start with Strategic Adjustments Jo-Anna Syverson from Honolulu, HI, demonstrated a solid pacing strategy in the 2025 Mesa Marathon, completing her marathon with an overall time of 3:41:12. Her performance was backed by impressive mile splits, especially during the initial stages. She maintained a strong sub-8-minute pace over the first 10 miles. Her fastest split occurred between miles 3 and 4 at 7:22 min/mile, followed closely by other sub-8 minute miles that formed a consistent start to the race. However, there was a slight shift in pacing around the halfway mark. Her overall pace for the marathon was 8:26 min/mile. Mile 17 saw the steepest increase in split time at 10:38 min/mile, indicating an area for pacing improvement in the latter half. Maintaining her early race pace for longer could be beneficial in future races. As a representative of the Long Run Collective, Jo-Anna finished 65th in her division, placing her among the top competitors.
