Strong Progression Leads to Significant Improvement Joe Iovanisci demonstrated an impressive progression throughout the 13.1 miles of the 2025 Mesa Marathon. Starting with a conservative 9:01-minute mile, Joe rapidly increased his pace. By mile four, he improved significantly to a 7:18-minute pace. This shift in speed is particularly notable, illustrating Joe's effective pacing strategy and ability to sustain higher speeds as the race progressed. Maintaining a continuous improvement, Joe finished the half marathon in 1:34:22, yielding an average pace of 7:12 minutes per mile. This consistency in pace allowed him to achieve 14th place in the M50-54 division out of a competitive field. Noteworthy is his fastest split at mile 13, clocking in an impressive 6:13-minute mile.
