Consistent Start, Challenging Finish Thomas began the 2025 Mesa Marathon with an impressive initial pace. Through the first 11 miles, his splits varied from 8:05 to 8:57 min/mile. The fastest split was at mile 6, clocking at 7:06 min/mile, showing a strong performance during the early stages. Notably, his pace from mile 1 to 3 averaged 8:30 min/mile, consistently maintaining a low 8-minute pace. However, the latter half of the marathon presented a greater challenge. From mile 19 onward, the pace slowed significantly, with splits ranging from 11:51 to 14:24 min/mile. This shift was reflected in the position numbers as well, where Thomas's place in the male 30-34 division moved from 144 at mile 1 to 237 at the finish. Focusing on maintaining a more even pace in future races could potentially lead to improved results. Overall, Thomas completed the marathon with a time of 4:25:19, representing a solid effort.
