Consistent Performance with Variable Splits Over the Distance Mary Lyons from Glassboro, NJ, participated in the 2025 Mesa Marathon, showcasing a solid and consistent performance throughout the race. She completed the marathon in 3:42:31, maintaining an overall pace of 8:29 min/mile. Her effort placed her 31st in her division (F45-49) out of a highly competitive field. Impressively, Mary was consistently in the top third of her gender category, finishing 301st among female participants. Mary displayed variability in her splits, starting with a strong split of 8:12 min/mile in the first mile, accelerating to 7:50 min/mile for the fourth mile. Although some fluctuations were noted towards the middle of the race, she picked up the pace significantly at the 19th mile with a robust 7:55 min/mile pace. One area to strengthen could involve minimizing the few slower splits she encountered, such as the 9:23 min/mile pace during the 21st mile, to further optimize her overall performance.
