Steady Gains and Strong Finish at the Mesa Marathon Sonia Martinez exhibited significant improvement at the 2025 Mesa Marathon 10K, clocking an overall time of 1:01:31, with an average pace of 9:55 min/mile. Sonia showed exceptional consistency across the splits, with a noticeable surge during the final mile, achieving a split pace of 8:55 min/mile. She finished 23rd in the F19-24 division out of a total of 2107 participants. Compared to last year's 10K performance of 1:08:58, Sonia shaved off considerable time, enhancing her pace by 1:12 min/mile. A particular area of strength was her ability to maintain a close pace between miles 2 to 5, ranging from 10:03 to 10:07 min/mile, demonstrating a balanced approach. One opportunity for growth is to maintain a strong starting pace, as the first mile was the slowest at 9:52 min/mile. Overall, Sonia’s persistence and strategic pacing in the race were outstanding.
