Consistent Pacing Highlights the Race Gary Golding maintained a solid and steady performance throughout the 2025 Mesa Marathon, completing the race in 4:24:30. His overall pace was 10:05 min/mile over the 26.2-mile course. Starting with a strong single-mile split of 9:03, Gary transitioned to a stable 9:21-9:23 min/mile range in the middle stages. Notably, his split at mile 19 was one of his quickest at 9:17 min/mile, illustrating his capacity to push through fatigue. Consistent pacing was evident up to mile 19, then some deceleration occurred with splits of 11:28 and 12:52 seen in the final miles. Despite the slower final miles, Gary achieved a commendable division placement: 173rd in the M40-44 category out of 3624 total participants. Training on late-race pacing and endurance holds potential for positive advancements in future races. Representing the East Valley Runners, consistent effort was the hallmark of Gary's performance.
