Consistent Pace and Improved Finish Iraj Zarrinnaal, a seasoned marathoner at 62, completed the 2025 Mesa Marathon with a strong performance, finishing in 3:47:40 at a consistent pace of 8:41 min/mile. He secured 18th place in his division (M60-64), demonstrating his efficient marathon strategy. Notably, Iraj maintained a stable pace throughout the course, with an impressive consistency in each mile that only slightly fluctuated. His pace was especially strong in Mile 19, with a remarkable split time of 8:08, considerably faster than some of his other splits. Compared to his 2023 performance, Iraj showed a noticeable improvement, reducing his marathon time by 1 minute and 40 seconds. While the overall placement and division ranks were different, it’s clear that his pacing strategy has paid off, allowing him to shave off time and remain competitive. For further improvement, focusing on maintaining energy during later miles could benefit his overall placement.
