Consistent Improvement with a Strong Finish James Lee, age 44 from Mesa, AZ, participated in the 2025 Mesa Marathon, completing the half marathon distance in 2:15:43 with an overall average pace of 10:21 min/mile. Impressively, James showcased a consistent and gradual improvement in pace throughout the race, beginning with an initial mile pace of 11:21 and culminated with a strong final mile at 8:56. This consistent adjustment allowed him to place 118th in his M40-44 division. James skillfully maintained his position throughout the race, moving from 746th to 1084th in the Men's category out of a total of 1,267 male competitors. One area to focus on would be maintaining the mid-race pace consistency, as seen in Mile 6 where his pace dipped to 11:38 min/mile. Overall, James demonstrated effective pacing strategy with his fastest split in the final miles, a promising sign of his ability to finish strong.
