Consistent Splits with a Focus on Maintaining Pace Graydon Guest completed the 2025 Mesa Marathon with an overall time of 3:54:12, maintaining an average pace of 8:56 min/mile. His performance showed consistency across the first half, with most mile splits ranging between 8:06 and 8:25 min/mile. Notably, mile 5 saw the slowest split at 10:43 min/mile, while mile 6 had a rapid pace at 7:50 min/mile. Graydon held a steady position in his division (M25-29) fluctuating around the 150th position throughout the race. Comparing with his previous marathon in 2024, where he clocked a time of 3:43:58, it appears there was a slight increase in finish time. For continuous improvement, focusing on sustaining pace in the later miles could enhance overall performance. Notably, the latter part of the race saw a drop in pace, especially from mile 20 onwards, which slightly impacted his overall time. With these insights, there's a clear path to optimizing future race strategies.
