Consistent Pace, Top Division Finish Jj Santana delivered a strong performance at the 2025 Mesa Marathon, covering the 26.2 miles in 2:21:00, achieving an impressive average pace of 5:22 min/mile. Notably, Jj secured first place in the M35-39 division and held a commanding lead in several splits – particularly showing strength in splits 1 and 19, clocking a pace of 5:02 min/mile and 5:20 min/mile, respectively. The pace varied slightly, with split times ranging from 4:51 min/mile at split 20 to 6:16 min/mile at split 25. While slight pacing fluctuations were observed in the latter stages – such as splits 21 through 25 where pacing edged past 6:00 min/mile in some segments – Jj consistently placed first in their division and maintained a competitive overall position. Building on this success, focusing on maintaining a more uniform pace in future races could enhance overall performance further, particularly in the latter parts.
