Consistent Pacing Leads to Strong Division Finish Stephen's performance at the 2025 Mesa Marathon's Half Marathon event demonstrated impressive pacing consistency, leading to a top ten finish in the M60-64 division. He maintained a strong average pace of 7:32 min/mile over the 13.1-mile course. His fastest split was the final mile, clocking in at 6:43 min/mile, which helped him secure 10th place in his division. Initial miles saw Stephen balancing a steady start and gradual speed increase. His incremental improvements from an 8:07 min/mile pace at mile one to a solid 7:32 min/mile overall demonstrate his ability to maintain and improve pace throughout the race. Attention to pacing allowed him to gain significant ground with a noticeable increase in speed, particularly in the latter half of the race. Encouraging results like these suggest focusing on early race pacing could leverage faster overall times in future races.
