Consistent Start with Opportunities in the Later Miles Maureen Gekonde, representing the Unlisted Run Club from Phoenix, AZ, demonstrated a strong and consistent start in the 2025 Mesa Marathon. Her initial mile split was 8:12 min/mile, maintaining a steady pace for the first few miles with her fastest split at mile 4 at 7:53 min/mile. Her performance placed her 56th in the F35-39 division early on. As the race progressed past the halfway mark, Maureen's pace began to slightly decrease. By mile 18, her split was 11:04 min/mile. The later miles showed a slowing trend with mile 25 recording her slowest split at 13:47 min/mile. Maureen crossed the finish line with an overall time of 4:18:13, placing her 114th in the F35-39 division. Focusing on maintaining a consistent pace throughout the race might improve her position in future events. Overall, her performance in the marathon was commendable with great segments early in the race.
