Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Brandon Busuttil #10678 Race: 2025 Mesa Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Consistent Early Pace, Late Race Challenges Brandon Busuttil from Mesa, AZ, represented the AZ Run Club with a solid start at the 2025 Mesa Marathon. Starting with a strong pace, Brandon completed his first mile in 7:55 minutes. His initial splits stayed well under the 8-minute mark for the first 4 miles, consistently positioning him in the mid-800s to early-1100s in overall ranking. Notably, Brandon maintained a consistent pace through the initial 12 miles, managing to keep his elapsed pace around the 8-minute per mile mark. From mile 13 onwards, Brandon experienced a gradual slowdown. His pace increased to over 9 minutes per mile after mile 17. This drop in speed saw his rankings shift, ultimately finishing with an overall place of 1856 out of 3624 participants. While the latter part of the race presented challenges, identifying strategies for maintaining pace during the race's final stages could aid in improvement. Keep up the dedication, and continue to build on this experience.
