Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Allison Smithwick #18527 Race: 2025 Mesa Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Consistency with a Strong Finish Allison maintained a well-paced performance at the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon. Starting with an 8:57 min/mile pace, she steadily improved, showing consistent speeds across most splits. Notably, she had three impressive sub-8:10 min/mile splits at miles 3, 6, and 13, reaching her fastest pace in the final mile with a 7:35 min/mile. Her overall time was 1:50:27, with an average pace of 8:25 min/mile. Throughout the race, Allison's placements dipped slightly but improved by the finish, reaching 73rd in her F30-34 division. Her consistent pacing suggests efficient energy management, though there's slight room to shorten slower splits for an enhanced ranking. Being part of the "4 the Girls" team appears to contribute positively as her splits reflect robust endurance and strategy. Getting more experience could help to refine pacing further for more effective performance in future races.
