Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Brenda Penland #13212 Race: 2025 Mesa Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Consistent Improvement in Pacing Brenda Penland completed the 2025 Mesa Marathon with a final time of 4:25:38, achieving an average pace of 10:08 min/mile over the 26.2-mile course. Notably, Brenda improved her time from her previous race at the 2022 Mesa Marathon, where she recorded a time of 4:39:10 and an average pace of 10:39 min/mile. Throughout the race, Brenda consistently improved her standings, finishing 692nd in her gender and 30th in her division among 3624 participants. Analyzing her split times, Brenda initially started with a 14:32 min/mile pace but significantly accelerated, achieving her fastest mile at a 3:54 min/mile pace during the third mile. Her pacing remained consistent around the 9:30 min/mile mark before a gradual pace decline in the final miles, ending with a 10:08 min/mile pace. Focus on maintaining the consistent pace observed in the middle segments throughout the entire marathon could enhance future performance. Excellent work representing "Boston Buddies"!
