Consistent Pacing and Improved Splits Daeon Smith-Jones demonstrated remarkable consistency in the 2025 Mesa Marathon 10K. Starting with an 18:59 minute first mile, she managed to progressively lower her pace, reaching 17:08 minutes in the final mile. This improvement highlights effective pacing strategy, where she maintained a steady progression. Her overall elapsed time was 1:48:44, with an average pace of 17:32 min/mile over the 6.2-mile distance. Though initial splits placed her in the 48th spot for her division, F55-59, a dip occurred by the third split, placing her in 56th. However, she regained her standing by the sixth split to finish 57th. Daeon should be pleased with her improvement in pace, particularly in the latter half of the race. Working on maintaining pace earlier might refine her overall timing. Her participation as part of the "Black Girls RUN!" team showcases her dedication and team spirit.
