Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Gyu An #10232 Race: 2025 Mesa Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Consistent Strong Pace with Late Challenge Gyu An maintained an impressive 6:46 min/mile pace for the first mile, gradually decreasing slightly but staying strong with an average pace of under 7 minutes per mile up until the 19th mile. He showed particular strength with a 6:31 min/mile at mile 17, indicating his ability to push through mid-race. Although the pace edged up to 7:14 min/mile by the end, these efforts culminated in an overall time of 3:09:35 for the marathon. Positions varied slightly over the course; Gyu started strong at 272nd place but mostly hovered around the 290-360th range. By mile 20, his pace improved to 6:20 min/mile, capturing 266th place. In the final miles, pacing increased to the 8-9 min/mile range, resulting in a finish at 331st overall out of 3624 participants. Focus on maintaining end-of-race paces may benefit future events. Gyu's performance in this marathon as part of the DC 5K champion team showcased resilience and strong pacing through most of the race.
