Consistent Pace Leads to Strong Finish Eric Geiger, 61, from Phoenix, AZ, participated in the 2025 Mesa Marathon's 10K event. Representing Foothills Running Club, Eric maintained a steady and consistent pacing strategy throughout the race. Starting with a pace of 9:44 min/mile, Eric effectively increased his speed, reaching an impressive 8:28 min/mile by the final mile. His overall elapsed time was 57:05 with an average pace of 9:12 min/mile over the 6.2-mile distance. Though his place fluctuated slightly during the race, Eric demonstrated commendable consistency in his division, finishing 13th in the M60-64 age group. This was out of a total of 2107 participants. His ability to gradually improve his splits from the start and finish robustly with a faster pace in the closing mile showcases his endurance and strategy skills. For future races, maintaining focus on pacing in the early miles might further enhance overall performance.
