Date: February 8, 2025 Participant: Skyler Hill #11852 Race: 2025 Mesa Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles Weather: Perfect running conditions at 63°F, partly cloudy skies, and a slight breeze from the east in Mesa, AZ.

Strong Start, Slowed Finish Skyler Hill demonstrated a commendable start in the 2025 Mesa Marathon. His 1-mile split of 6:44 earned him a spot among the front runners, ranking 25th in the M19-24 division. Consistent sub-7-minute miles were maintained through the first half of the race, averaging remarkably at 6:44 min/mile to 7:10 min/mile, showing control and pacing ability up to the halfway mark. In the later miles, Skyler's pace decreased, with mile 15 seeing a noticeable rise to a 15:43 split. The final overall pace settled at 9:36 min/mile. A potential focus area could be sustaining the pace from earlier splits throughout longer distances. Despite this, finishing a marathon is a significant achievement, especially for a young competitor. Participating with the Atlanta Run Club must have been an added support, and efforts like these build strong foundations for future races.
