Consistent Early Performance, Challenges Later Selah Ahina from Phoenix, AZ, demonstrated a very steady and commendable pace in the first half of the 2025 Mesa Marathon. Starting with a solid split at a 9:51 min/mile pace for the first mile, she progressively quickened her pace, peaking at a swift 9:02 min/mile by mile 7. Her ability to maintain strong splits early on highlights her potential for robust pacing and stamina, placing her 38th in her division at the mile 1 mark. As the marathon progressed, Selah encountered increasing fatigue, particularly after mile 8, where the pace slowed to 13:08 min/mile. Overall, she completed her marathon debut with a total time of 5:40:40, which is a respectable achievement in her age division. Strengthening endurance for longer distances will be key, particularly in the later stages of the race, to improve upon her 91st division finish. Keep building on this experience for future races.
