Consistent Performance with Strong Finish Matthew Cox, a 34-year-old runner from Scottsdale, AZ, demonstrated consistent pace distribution during the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon. His splits varied slightly, with the fastest mile at 6:10 and the slowest at 6:53. He achieved an average pace of 6:34 per mile over the 13.1-mile course, completing the race in 1:26:06. Notably, Matthew managed to improve his position from 202 to 160 between miles 11 and 12, showing a strong push towards the end of the race. In a field of 3,859 participants, Matthew placed 141st among male competitors and 43rd in the M30-34 division. His membership with the PHX Run Club seems to be beneficial as it shows in his performance improvements, especially reflected by his faster per-mile pace when compared to his previous marathon effort. To enhance future performance, maintain consistent pacing, especially in the middle segments where minor slowdowns were observed.
