Consistent Pace and Strategic Gains in Final Splits Braden Palmer of Flagstaff, AZ, at age 20, completed the 2025 Mesa Marathon's 10K with a final time of 52:31. He maintained a solid average pace of 8:28 min/mile across the 6.2-mile race. Notably, Braden showcased significant consistency and energy preservation by strategically executing faster splits in the latter half of the race. He demonstrated marked improvements, especially in miles 5 and 6, with split paces of 7:42 and 7:46 min/mile, respectively. Throughout the race, Braden made noticeable progress, advancing his position within his division (M19-24) from 12th to 17th. His ability to quicken the pace later in the race was a critical factor in maintaining a strong overall performance. Engaging in targeted speed work or intervals could refine this strategy further, contributing to improved consistency across all segments.
