Vanessa's Steady Progression with a Strong Finish Vanessa Roybal showcased impressive consistency and acceleration during the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon. Her initial pace of 8:03 min/mile set a comfortable start, but it was her ability to progressively improve that proved noteworthy. She achieved her fastest split at mile 13 with a remarkable 6:37 min/mile. Her overall elapsed time was 1:34:56, placing her 32nd in her division, F25-29, out of a total 3859 participants, demonstrating competitive performance in a large field. Throughout the race, Vanessa gained momentum, improving from a 7:25 min/mile pace around mile 4 to finishing with an overall pace of 7:14 min/mile. This demonstrates great pacing strategy, particularly given the final surge between miles 12 and 13. Consistent pacing with targeted acceleration points marks an effective strategy that can be refined further. Encouragement for future races could include maintaining a slightly faster pace earlier to leverage her strong finishing capability.
