Sustained Performance with Strong Middle Splits Mariko Sachie Tamaura Lopez maintained a solid performance in the 2025 Mesa Marathon, completing the course in 3:31:12, achieving an average pace of 8:03 min/mile. Impressively, she finished 31st in her division F40-44 out of 3624 participants. Notably, her pace was particularly strong from mile 9 to mile 19, hovering between 7:56 and 7:57 min/mile, which shows consistent and impressive effort in the heart of the race. At the start, Mariko began conservatively at 15:24 min/mile, perhaps allowing herself to warm up before achieving a strong surge in the middle section. Despite a minor slowdown in the final segments, she increased her pace significantly at mile 24, rounding off a commendable performance. While reaching her previous half marathon pace from 2024 might be a stretching goal, focusing on the strong mid-race consistency demonstrated could lead to further improvement in upcoming races.
