Consistent Effort with a Late Surge in Pace Irene showed a strong and consistent approach during the 2025 Mesa Marathon Half Marathon, embracing a steady pace throughout the race. Starting with a first mile split of 14:36 minutes per mile, Irene made slight improvements in her pace by the second mile to 13:58 minutes per mile, which was her fastest mile. Her overall finishing time was 3:30:55 with an average pace of 16:06 minutes per mile. Despite a gradual slowing trend around miles 5 and 6, she managed an effective pace control, ensuring not to let her performance dip significantly. In her division F70-74, Irene secured 14th place. Comparing with previous races, there's been variability in her performance, with her fastest being the 2023 Mesa Marathon at 3:05:17. Notably, in the final miles, she improved her pace slightly, finishing with a 16:34 minute per mile split, indicating a positive push toward the end.
