Strong Start with Consistent Performance Thomas Goates displayed a commendable performance at the 2025 Mesa Marathon 10K. At age 21, he began his race with an impressive first-mile split of 8:15, securing 8th place in his division. His second mile improved slightly to 8:12, showing strategic pacing. Although there was a dip in his speed during miles three (9:18) and four (9:20), he managed to maintain an overall steady pace throughout the race. By the end of the race, Thomas clocked an overall time of 54:33 with an average pace of 8:47 min/mile. He finished 21st in the M19-24 division out of a total of 2107 participants. Despite a slight drop in pace, especially in the middle miles, he recovered well towards the finish. Working on even pacing in the mid-race could enhance future performances.
